James E. Lynch India and South Asia Business Centre (ISABC)

 
Welcome to the James E Lynch India & South Asia Business Centre (ISABC), at the University of Leeds
 
 
Created under the Strategic Research Infrastructure Fund (SRIF) II scheme in 2004, the India & South Asia Business Centre aims to conduct high quality research and disseminate information to both a specialist and non-specialist audience. ISABC was formally opened by the High Commissioner of India in the U.K., His Excellency Kamalesh Sharma and the University of Leeds' Vive Chancellor Professor Michael Arthur on March 22nd, 2006.
 
This follows the creation five years earlier, of the Institute for Research on Contemporary China (IRCC), incorporating the Centre for Chinese Business and Development (CCBD). All three centres are physically located next to each other, within the premises of the Centre for International Business at the University of Leeds (CIBUL) . CIBUL is the world’s leading research centre in international business (International Business Review, August 2006), and was awarded “Gold Peak of Excellence” status in December 2005 by the University of Leeds.
 
Leeds University Business School (LUBS) contributed to the initial funding of the India Centre, which enabled the conversion of a row of terraced-houses at the heart of the University of Leeds’ campus into state-of-the-art, dedicated research facilities for the understanding of Indian business. A total of £400k has been invested in the facilities.
 
What we do
 
Our India centre
generates knowledge on firm strategies with respect to India, firm strategies of Indian firms in foreign countries, foreign direct investment, issues related to cross-cultural management, etc.
