Geoff graduated from Nottingham University with a degree in Industrial Economics, and then joined the Export Credits Guarantee Department (ECGD), a Government Department affiliated to the Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) offering export promotion services. His roles included delivering the Department’s export promotion and financing support services directly to exporting companies and later in the policy development group of ECGD, liaising with HM Treasury, The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other Government Departments.  For 3 years he was the Private Secretary of the Rt. Hon. Peter Walker MP, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

After leaving ECGD, Geoff joined Grindlays Bank (now ANZ) as Director Project Finance for the Americas and Asia, travelling widely for business development and negotiations in the USA, Latin America and Asia. 

He later went to Chase Investment Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) in London as Vice President Project Finance, providing advice on complex project financings to major UK and European companies, and subsequently as Head of the Capital Goods, Aerospace and Automotive Division in the Corporate Finance Group.

After leaving Chase, Geoff went to ALSTOM as Commercial Director in the Power Plants Group in Manchester and subsequently as Regional Business Development Director for Asia Pacific and Europe, based in Hong Kong and Paris respectively.   He led multi- national commercial and technical teams in the successful development and negotiation of major power plant projects, in the UK, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.

Geoff was then posted to Beijing as ALSTOM’s President for China where he was responsible for the establishment of the China Holding Company and the setting up and supervision of 11 joint ventures. His role included the establishment and management of top level government and corporate relationships and for negotiations and troubleshooting with State, Municipal and Provincial Governments and major State Owned Corporations and Banks.

More recently, Geoff has successfully moved into independent Consultancy, Mentoring and Coaching, working with UK and European corporate and government clients, business schools and coaching businesses in the area of International Business and Finance. A summary CV is shown below.
