Research Title (working title):  ‘Regional strategy of British firms and competitiveness in China’

Research Topic:
MNE strategy, location choice, China

Research Description:
Regional cities in China have been identified as nascent destinations for MNEs seeking to enter or expand their existing operations and business activities in China. The fast growth and attractive factor conditions exhibited by the regional cities juxtaposed with the market saturation and rising input costs required to locate in China’s ‘first tier’ cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, make them, in theory at least, attractive destinations for British MNEs. The overarching aim of the research is to explore the strategic and competitive challenges of locating in China’s regional cities.
