Ian Woozley

Introduction:

Ian is researching subsidiary initiative and entrepreneurship in the multinational enterprise (MNE) and its influence on group evolution. He is doing this through qualitative research at several inter-linked subsidiaries of the same MNE group and aggregating this data to the group level. Ian is doing his research at Asian, American and European subsidiaries of a large Japanese electronics manufacturing division that fits the profile of the modern ‘global factory’. The research sheds light on the role of subsidiary influence and interaction in the coordination of the global factory.

Fluent in Japanese, Ian lived and worked in Japan for 5 years, managing and integrating expatriate employees in Japanese workplaces. He qualified academically and professionally in human resources at Warwick Business School. Ian has advanced training in Japanese language, politics and economics as well as in his chosen field of International Business. Ian is also researching the interaction of MNE subsidiaries with their host locations, pursuing this work in MNEs and at public sector organisations including investment promotion agencies and the United Nations.
